Railway axle counters are used to control occupancy of railway sections. Their typical application is occupancy control of level crossing or open railroad sections within the automatic block system. This paper presents railway axle counter prototype using microcontrollers that fulfil SIL 3 safety level, defined by IEC 61508 Standard.
Remote supervision of railway axle counter's operation provides real-time information about activities in railway network and early signs of system failure. Remote supervision of safety critical systems, like this, has to be robust and unambiguous. In this paper is given one possible realization of such system.
This paper proposes novel approach in coding single phonemes based on mel-frequency cepstral coefficients (MFCC) in order to simplify the neural network used to recognize those phonemes. The efficiency and effectiveness of proposed algorithm are demonstrated for both male and female speakers.
