We show how a photonic crystal prism can be used to filter a broadband terahertz beam using the properties of negative and positive refraction. Different components of a broadband beam incident on the structure may be positively or negatively refracted, depending upon its frequency. Therefore, the structure can be used as an effective spectral filter of THz radiation.
Here we present a silicon based, micro‐machined fluidic device for terahertz frequencies, fabricated using standard lithographic and micro‐machining processes in a cleanroom environment. Designed for use in a conventional transmission terahertz time‐domain spectroscopy (THz‐TDS) arrangement, we present a possible solution to the ‘water problem’ currently hampering the analysis of aqueous and biological...
In this paper, we present experimental results showing how appropriately designed and constructed artificial materials can be used to refract negatively terahertz frequency light without the need for the materials to have both a negative permeability and a negative permittivity.
In this work we are beginning to determine the terahertz dielectric properties of various polyaromatic hydrocarbons. Terahertz spectroscopy of such organic compounds has seen rather less work undertaken in recent years than that carried out in some other areas.
