In this paper, we consider a CR system that uses the LTE-Advanced (LTE-A) standard at the physical layer, and present an algorithm for shaping the spectrum of the corresponding OFDM signal that enables secondary access to the frequency spectrum in dynamic scenarios. The proposed algorithm is based on OFDM precoder adaptation and is illustrated with numerical results obtained from simulations.
In this paper we consider orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) based cognitive radio systems that operate as secondary users (SUs) in a spectrum overlay approach and study joint spectral shaping and power control subject to specified target signal-to-interference+noise ratio (SINR) as a constrained optimization problem. We discuss necessary and sufficient conditions for the optimal solution...
Cognitive radio (CR) technology represents a promising solution for solving the problem of spectrum scarcity and underutilization in wireless communications. While orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) is regarded as a suitable technology for the CR physical layer, it can suffer from out-of-band radiation, which hinders its spectrum sharing capabilities. In this paper we consider a turbo-coded...
Cognitive radios (CR) are regarded as a viable solution to enabling flexible use of the frequency spectrum in future generations of wireless networks. An important aspect of spectrum management in CR systems is adaptation of the spectrum sensing methods employed by CRs in order to accurately detect the changing patterns of spectrum use and to update the spectrum and interference constraints under...
In this paper we consider cognitive radios (CR) that employ orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) modulation at the physical layer and present an algorithm for transmitter adaptation subject to specified quality of service (QoS) constraints. The proposed algorithm explicitly considers multipath channels between the CR transmitter and its intended receiver, and performs joint spectral shaping...
