We have found a systematic way to identify the bias conditions to observe the Random-Telegraph-Noise (RTN) in advanced Metal-Oxide-Semiconductor Field-Effect-Transistors (MOSFETs). We measured a p-type MOSFET at 2K, and found narrow bias conditions to observe the RTN presumably caused by charge trapping and de-trapping, which were only observed at low temperatures. It will pave the way to address...
We have investigated superconducting properties of niobium titanium nitride (NbTiN) films to be used for the lower and upper electrodes of a microstrip line with a SiO2 insulator on a quartz substrate at Terahertz frequencies. NbTiN films were prepared on a 1-mm thick quartz substrate directly (assumed to be the lower electrode of the microstrip line) and on an about 150-nm thick SiO2 layer sputtered...
A total of 73 dual polarization superconductor–insulator–superconductor (SIS) receivers for the Atacama Large Millimeter/submillimeter Array (ALMA) have been successfully produced to observe astronomical signals in the frequency band of 787–950 GHz. For the mass production of waveguide SIS mixer chips used in the receivers, we have tested two different compositions of $\mbox{Nb}_{1-x}\mbox{Ti}_{x}\mbox{N} $...
Localized surface plasmon resonance, LSPR, has been applied to a variety of recent optical applications, including surface enhanced Raman scattering solar cells, ultrasensitive bio/chemical sensors, and light-emitting diodes. In general, LSPR is well-known as the collective conduction electron oscillation that occurs especially in noble metal nanostructures excited by light at the resonance condition...
We present a new analytical model combining the heat equation with rate equations to reproduce experimentally obtained output intensity of terahertz quantum-cascade lasers subject to optical pulse injection and demonstrate good agreement with the experiments.
Transmission spectra of thin films of niobium nitride grown on a magnesium oxide substrate were measured by terahertz time-domain spectroscopy under several temperature conditions. Clear changes in the transparent terahertz waveform and transmission spectra of under / above a phase transition temperature were observed.
It is an advantage of THz-TDS measurement that we can obtain not only the spectral amplitude of THz wave but the phase information without any assumptions. But, it has a difficulty in the position reproducibility of the reference mirror and sample in THz wave reflection measurement. We introduced a laser displacement sensor in order to get the reproducibility of position and measured the THz-TDS reflection...
