In this paper, we present an embedded streaming media system. In the system, RTP, RTCP and RTSP are realized in PS (Protocol Session) module. The received multimedia data is capsulated in FFC (File Format Capsulation) module, and then decoded by hardware decoder. The system proves to play back MPEG1/2/4 streaming data smoothly and also succeeds in streaming download.
DCCP (Datagram Congestion Control Protocol) is proposed by IETF to transmit real-time traffic as a substitute for UDP. There are two main congestion control mechanisms in DCCP, which are CCID2 and CCID3. However they are designed for wired links which are assumed to have negligible errors, so they are not suitable for wireless networks with long RTT and high bit error rates.
