Interferometric measurements of submicrosecond gas density dynamics following passage of an intense ultrashort pulse are presented for single- and multi-lobed beams at 10 Hz and 1 kHz. Results are in excellent agreement with hydrodynamic simulations.
We show that the deposition of energy in nitrogen by a train of ultrafast pulses can be greatly enhanced or diminished using multiple pulses spaced near the molecular rotational revival or half revival period.
The plasma-induced phase shift of a probe is measured in 2D spatially with ∼3 µm resolution and temporally with ∼5 fs resolution. From this ionization rates for the noble gases are found for a 40 fs, 800 nm pulse, for intensities up to nearly full depletion of the neutral population.
In this paper, we propose a new method to recover band-limited signals corrupted by impulsive noise. The proposed method successively uses adaptive thresholding and soft decisioning to find the locations and amplitudes of the impulses. In our proposed method, after estimating the positions and amplitudes of the additive impulsive noise, an adaptive algorithm, followed by soft decision, is employed...
In this paper we propose a new method to recover images corrupted with salt and pepper noise. The proposed method uses ordered statistics filtering and soft-decisioning in successive approximations to find the locations and amplitudes of all the impulses. In our method we use soft-decision to generate a mask which is based on histogram distributions in local windows to distinguish impulsive noise...
In this paper we propose a new method to recover bandlimited signals corrupted by impulsive noise. The proposed method uses CFAR adaptive thresholding and soft decision making to detect the locations of the impulsive noise. Then, an iterative method cancels noise and reconstructs the signal. This estimate in turn will be used to make the approximation of the impulsive noise more accurate. Simulation...
