This paper demonstrates the fabrication of a prototype device of a low power silicon-polymer hybrid optical modulator based on photoinduced absorption of VOPc. The modulated signals can be obtained by an intensity-modulated laser diode. The modulation depth is increased by ~10 times compared with the conventional silicon waveguide modulator in which photoexcited free carriers are employed. In this...
In this paper, a Si-based temperature-independent AWG designed by a combination of a narrow and wide part in each Si waveguide on SOI substrates is proposed. The thermal effects on the proposed AWG is simulated and showed that it is possible to make the center wavelength be temperature-independent by adjusting the waveguide parameters.
