Conventional Brillouin based carrier generator may produce optical wavelengths at the spacing of 10 GHz (odd) or 20 GHz (even), which in turn will be heterodyned for microwave/millimeter wave (mm-wave) generation. Therefore, in the scenario where both odd and even order carriers are required, two laser units have to be utilized. In this paper, a new type of Brillouin fiber laser is proposed with bidirectional...
We propose a simple plasmonic nanostructure based nanowire crystalline Silicon solar cell by integrating silver core with nanowire. We found 63% better ultimate efficiency compared to conventional nanowire structures for fixed filling ratio and length.
We propose and demonstrate a simple and improved absorption geometry using micro-hole architecture for micro concentrating photovoltaic (MCPV). Each micro concentrator is coupled with a very small C-Si solar cell. The incident light is concentrated by micro concentrator on the coupled small area thick film photovoltaic (PV). The PV is designed using proposed micro-hole based architecture to facilitate...
We propose an absorption geometry of the planar micro optic solar concentrator (PMOSC) solar cell using Micro-hole PV cell architecture that improves absorption efficiency over 71% and reduces the Fresnel reflection and propagation loss.
A Rayleigh backscattering noise eliminated long-reach, single-fiber, full-duplex, centralized WDM-PON with 10-Gb/s DPSK downstream and remodulated 2.5-Gb/s OOK upstream using optical carrier-suppressed sub-carrier-modulation and optical interleaver is proposed. Experimental demonstration shows error-free transmission over 115km SMF-28 with less than 2dB power penalty.
We experimentally demonstrated a novel radio-over-fiber scheme to provide 2.5Gbit/s symmetric full-duplex services based on optical carrier suppression for downlink and reuse for uplink. It was successfully transmitted bi-diretionally over 40km SMF-28 with ≪2dB power penalty.
