Tools for electromagnetic simulation, such as SE-RAY-EM/FERMAT, make RCS and ISAR image computations down to millimetre wavelength possible from the CAD of targets. The higher the frequency is, the greater the influence of the precision and the realism of the CAD models on results are. In millimetre wavelength, whatever the precision of the CAD, the roughness of surface and the non flatness of sheets...
In this paper, a fast high frequency analysis method of complex 3D targets and environment is achieved by coupling electromagnetic asymptotic formulations and shooting and bouncing ray (SBR) approach. Different applications of the tools from EM fields evaluation are then presented.
The analysis and design of a variable cutoff frequency waveguide filter are presented. The filter, consisting of a low permittivity dielectric slab placed in a waveguide below cutoff, is designed to enable variation of the cutoff frequency up to 5% bandwidth. Measurements performed in the X-band and S-band agree with the theory.
