This article is devoted to the information reliability of radar systems. Main attention focuses on the radar system human-operator reliability, and to factors that decrease it. The possibilities of it level increase by the introduction of redundancy are explored. Optimal levels of redundancy for the radar system human-operator reliability are defined.
Prof. Bejczy is recognized globally for his achievements as a scientist and engineer, he made fundamental contributions to robot modeling and developed new applications. One domain of robotics stands out of his carrier, space robotics. He joined the NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) in 1969, where he developed the first dynamic model of robotic manipulators based on the Lagrangian formulation....
The aim of the project described in the paper was - based on the experiences with the previously designed fully automatic scale measuring machine - to develop a cheaper version for small calibration laboratories. In this case we were not restricted by the special constraints of the customer. In new version the conventional guideways were replaced by vacuum preloaded flat air bearings and the motion...
Information about procedures and equipment for the calibration of linear displacement probes are rare in the literature. The paper first discusses the key properties of published systems with nanometer resolution followed by the description of a new calibration system having 50 nanometer measuring uncertainty. The probe displacement is generated by a single-axis positioning stage driven by a stepping...
The paper gives a summary of 2014 year results in the topic of physiological modeling and control achieved by the Physiological Controls Group of the Obuda University. The presentation is integrated in the tradition established years ago at IEEE INES conferences and 2014's IEEE SACI conference summarizing the latest results obtained by the group. Four topics are presented, highlighting collaboration...
Cloud Robotics is an emerging field within robotics, currently covering various application domains and robot network paradigms. This paper provides a structured, systematic overview of the numerous definitions, concepts and technologies linked to Cloud Robotics and cloud technologies in a broader sense. It also presents a roadmap for the near future, describing development trends and emerging application...
The paper investigates the specificity of Linear Parameter Varying (LPV) modeling and robust controller design on a widely used Type 1 Diabetes Mellitus model. LPV systems can be seen as an extension of linear time invariant systems, which allows us to extend some powerful control methodologies to the highly nonlinear and uncertain models of the human metabolism. Different LPV models are proposed...
Surgical robotics was only born three decades ago; however it has already spread out worldwide, resulting in systems that can provide less patient trauma and better medical outcome. In the near future, newly developed robotic systems may conquer even the most challenging fields—such as long distance telesurgery. While the master-slave (da Vinci type) robotic surgery practically means teleoperation...
The problem of hardware implementation of parametric t-norms in reconfigurable fuzzy systems is discussed. Several parametric families of t-norms suitable for such implementation are considered. FPGA implementation of them is discussed.
The main aim of this paper is to introduce a method for approximating surfaces given by a set of discrete points with possible additional parameters. The method uses the higher order singular value decomposition based on canonical form of two-variable TP (tensor product) functions. Except of approximation abilities of this principle, the paper focuses on the compression properties of the method, as...
The paper deals with the problem of graphical modelling of the activities of production systems with robots and manipulators. These models allow two kinds of examinations. The first one is aimed of the determination of the smallest number of elementary processing cycles of the entry of the robotic technological complexes (RTC) to ensure that no collision occurs in the course of the processing of two...
In connection with the progressive introduction of highly automated manufacturing systems and CIM systems, much attention in the last two decades has been paid to the investigation of the potential formalization of manual, routine-mental and partly also creative human activity (operator, dispatcher, designer). There has been a search for software tools that achieve individual results like the 'real'...
