The function of the second Lorentz theorem in deriving the operator form of the generalized power conservation law is considered. Some new forms of this law for the mode-diffraction problem are found. The revealed fundamental properties of the scattering operator matrices are analyzed. The presented results can be useful for application in analytic-numerical methods based on the modal analysis.
