A new method for characterizing fire resistance of composite dual-wall pipes is reported. The technique involves testing a bench-scale pipe sample by exposure to a flame. Detailed temperature profiles and history are obtained. By using this methodology, we have studied the fire resistance of several dual-wall pipe samples. In particular, we have examined the effects of insulation thickness and...
The relative fire safety of selected fiberglass-resin composite pipes is reported. Smoke density and selected toxic gas (CO, CO 2 , and HCN) emissions are characterized under similar burning conditions. These experiments provide, for the first time, a database of the relative smoke density and toxic products of combustion for various composite pipe resins.
