In this paper a novel, easily available, “on-off-on” fluorescent and colorimetric probe based on Phenothiazine was synthesized and characterized by 1H NMR, 13C NMR and ESI–MS. Results showed selective and sensitive recognition towards Hg2+ and S2− with no significant interference with other competitive metal ions and anions.
