In this paper, we study the effect of optical interference on the emission from conjugated polymer devices. We extend the current models to include the effects of birefringence in the polymer layers. We also include the effect of the variation of radiative and non-radiative rate with position on the quantum efficiency of emission of an excited state. We then model the overall angular distribution,...
In this paper, we model the effects of optical interference on conjugated polymer devices. We extend current models to include the effect of birefringence in the polymer. Experimental measurements of emission from PPV LED structures as a function of angle are compared with the model. These results demonstrate the importance of birefringence.
