A good quality graphene is transferred onto honeycomb-like CNTs arrays with inner supporting CNTs. The efficient field emission is demonstrated due to a high aspect ratio protrusions and graphene crack edges. A high efficient current density about 1.2 mA/cm2 at threshold electric field of 7.8 V/μm with a turn-on electric field of 1.8 V/μm at the current density of 10 μA/cm2 is observed due to high...
Spacers are very important in field emission displays (FEDs), which can separate the cathode and the anode panel. We have investigated the impact of spacers on the field emission properties of a large-area FED. Simulation results showed that spacers would change the electric potential distribution inside FEDs, and would further affect the display uniformity. In FEDs with spacers of a low relative...
Zinc oxide nanowires (ZNWs) are grown on vertically-aligned carbon nanotubes (CNTs) by vapor phase transport method. Field emission properties of these nanowires have been studied and then compared with similar nanowires fabricated on flat silica substrates. This composed nanostructure has minimized the field-screening effects provoked by the proximity of neighbour tubes. This work demonstrates that...
CsI nanoparticles were introduced to ZnO-CNTs composite field emitters through screen-printing process. Enhanced field emission properties were obtaind after coating or mixing CsI during ZnO-CNTs composite emitters fabrication. Further improved field emission properties from CsI-mixed ZnO-CNTs emitters are observed, and a low turn on electric field of 1.6V/um is achieved.
Using the tunneling effect under high electric field, field emission cold cathode could obtain an emission current which is large enough. In this paper, we reported the large field-emission from CNTs and ZnO tetrapods composited field emitters. Screen-printing method is used in our experiment and more than 15 mA field-emission current is obtained with 0.5 mm gap.
In this research report, the authors have a close view on this process. The authors treat the dc-biased carbon nanotube as an RF antenna and the pulsed laser beam as the plane wave. Based on traditional microwave antenna theory and nonlinear optics, the authors are going to describe the electric field distribution around the vertically-standing single-walled carbon nanotube irradiated by pulsed ultrafast...
In this letter, we report a new kind of hybrid field emitters with the mixture of ZnO nanotetrapods and MgO particles by spin-coating method. Due to the excellent field emission properties of the hybrid field emitters, the turn-on electric field (at a current density of 1 muA/cm2) and threshold electric field (at a current density of 1 mA/cm2) have been reduced to 0.6 nu/mum and 0.92 V/mum, respectively...
A new field-emission triode with a carbon nanotube (CNT) cathode is proposed in this paper. This triode consists of three glass plates: the first one represents the cathode plate, which has an array of holes to which the CNTs are applied by printing; the second plate is mounted below the cathode plate and contains the gate electrodes; and the third one is the anode. The electric field generated by...
