A novel dual stator doubly salient aircraft engine starter-generator system has been designed and built for an aircraft engine application. The system bases on a dual stator doubly salient electromagnetic machine, which was chosen for its simplicity, ruggedness, high speed capability, low torque ripple in motoring and low output voltage ripple in generating. This paper describes the motor control...
A Chorus Meshcon motor drive system takes advantage of harmonic drive frequencies to alter the voltage/current profile of a motor, offering significantly higher torque at low speeds than conventional AC induction machines. This characteristic makes it extremely well suited for operation as a starter-generator where high torque, low speed starting and high speed, low torque generation are required
This paper presents comparative studies among three DC-DC-AC combined converters for integrated starter generator (ISG) applications. The necessity of using DC-DC-AC combined converter to achieve optimal performance of an ISG system is explained. Analysis and computer simulation of the three DC-DC-AC candidates is conducted to illustrate their respective advantages and disadvantages.
