Adaptive notch filters (ANF) are a special case of IIR adaptive filters that are able to track and cancel a time-varying sinusoid or a narrow band interference signal from a broad band signal. These filters update zeros and poles of the notch filters based on an objective function that minimizes the output signal energy. An ANF algorithm can only be used in practical applications if the underlying...
A TON (trust overlay network) is a virtual network on top of the underlying distributed application network, which is a directed and weighted complex network. A detailed understanding of the structural properties of TON topology will benefit the accurate grasp of the trust formation mechanism and management model and the effect on underlying distributed application network, in order to make better...
In cyber-physical systems (CPSs), embedded computing systems and communication capability are used to streamline and fortify the operation of a physical system. Intelligent critical infrastructure systems are among the most important CPSs and also prime examples of pervasive computing systems, as they exploit computing to provide "anytime, anywhere" transparent services. The existing body...
Sensor nodes located on the boundary of the covered area often cause difficulties in maintaining a wireless sensor network's lifespan. This study proposes a simple method to approximate boundaries in wireless sensor networks. The approach uses only connectivity information of a network while not requiring nodes localize themselves. The proposed method divides a network into clusters and forms partial...
In this paper, an intelligent battery charger for a set of Ni-Cd batteries is designed, Simulated and experimentally tested. A fuzzy inference process utilized in a power management system (PMS) to control a BUCK converter as a battery charging system. Battery temperature and voltage variations are used as controller input variables and charge current as output. Battery voltage and temperature is...
Buffer management is a key design issue in the development of any machine vision system. Triple buffering is a memory economical buffer management scheme which minimizes the processor idle time while frames are being acquired and ensures the processing of intact frames. Matlab simulation results of the triple buffer scheme clearly prove the significance of this scheme in contrast to other buffering...
According to the matching differences cased by cardiac non-rigid motion between angiographic images before and after injected in subtract angiography which is most widely used in diagnosis, a new algorithm based on a?? trous wavelet of rotary Gaussian with adaptive space coefficient and segmentation based on transition region is put forward to in this paper. The angiographic image is pretreated by...
The control of a new kind of airship is presented. By restricting its flight to a vertical plane, the mathematical model is reduced. The simplified model is proved to be minimum phase, and a nonlinear controller based on input-output linearization is designed. Since the performance of the controller is significantly impacted by the choice of parameters, simulations of three different pole placement...
Hula-hoop is not only one of familiar toys but also interesting system as a nonlinear control system. While humans play hula-hoop, hoop does not slide on the body but rotates around it. Though it is controlled only by the motion of the body, humans can realize enduring rotary motion without dropping hoop. The purpose of this paper is modeling and control of hula-hoop system as a nonlinear control...
UWB (Ultra Wide Band) technology is a reliable transmission scheme for wireless communication with high data rates. It is called as impulse radio, impulse radar or carrier free ultra high resolution scheme. UWB is defined as signals with fractional band width more than 20% of its central frequency or as signals with bandwidth more than 500 MHZ. UWB can be characterized with ultra-short duration pulses...
The software requirements decomposition can be taken as a dynamic system. According to the nonlinear dynamic requirements decomposition equations developed by us based on the nonlinear dynamic system. This paper further researched the chaotic phenomena of software requirements through simulations. The occurrence of chaos in the process of software requirements decomposition is determined by Requirements...
A Low-complexity Layered Decoding Algorithm for LDPC Codes is proposed. Our modified algorithm reduces the number of operations in variable nodes to lower LDPC decoder power consumption. The modified parts of LDPC decoder architecture is also described. Simulation results show that comparing with SPA and MSA, our algorithm reducing the number of operations nearly to 60% with little performance loss.
Distributed traffic information systems apply inter-vehicular ad hoc communication to disseminate road traffic information. The high amount of traffic information carried and flooded along the road network leads to superfluous forwarding, which is usually reduced by using rate- or spatial- adaptivity in the dissemination mechanisms. However, in certain cases due to the lack of context-aware information,...
In this paper, we propose a novel approach in which an intelligent agent can learn complex concepts in abstract forms. This approach provides a useful tool for non-episodic problems, where agent must search the environment to find special concepts; in addition, yielded abstract representation of the concepts can be used in further high level planning tasks. In order to perform concept learning process...
Exploring unknown environment by multi-robots brings the problem of partial maps integrating. In traditional methods, global map building is almost based on an estimate of robot pose (i.e., its position and orientation). In this paper we propose an improved approach without robots' pose information to integrate maps into a unified coordinate system. Line segment based geometric features in common...
To determine the buy and sell time is one of the most important issues for investors in stock market. In this paper, a fuzzy approach to stock market timing is investigated. A fuzzy decision system is constructed based on experiences and techniques of stock and future opportunist. The fuzzy rules are optimized by taking exchange volume into account for better fitting the stock market of mainland China...
In many applications there is a need to mix the signals of different frequencies or signals of different types, which emphasises the use of mixers or multipliers for different RF applications. In this paper, "CMOS analog multiplier, with less number of transistors which can operate at high frequencies with low power and high linearity" is proposed. The proposed multiplier works on the basis...
Salisbury screen radar absorber with high resistive surface is unconstrained by the restriction of 1/4 wavelength thickness of medium. EBG structure is an effective approach to realize it. This paper present a new type of Salisbury screen absorber based on one order Minkowski fractal surface with several symmetric patched resistors. Simulation results show that the total thickness is reduced dramatically...
The focus of this work is to promote the semantic data integration for virtual production systems. The phase of product-planning usually requires a huge range of numerical simulations that are used by different departments of a company. To increase productivity on the one hand and reduce complexity of simulation chains on the other hand, it is essential to be able to integrate the differing data of...
Vehicular traffic congestion is a global phenomenon that has increased in importance in the last decades and has caused economically and ecologically negative effects. Thus, finding a way to improve traffic efficiency is a high-frequented problem to be solved by scientists and politicians worldwide. One new promising approach is the usage of decentralized wireless vehicle to vehicle communication...
