Trophic relations for larvae of 68 species of longhorn beetles were determined, based mainly on my own field studies carried out between 1999 and 2002 within the Tenczyński Landscape Park in the Kraków Upland (southern Poland). The list of host plants for Cerambycidae larvae includes 46 taxa (mainly at the species level), chiefly trees and shrubs, classified within 13 categories of the breeding material.
The paper characterizes and discusses the immune response mechanisms of the honey bee, mainly bee larvae, to infection caused by Paenibacillus larvae, the absolute pathogen of honey bee larvae. A statistically significant increase in abaecin was found in the youngest larvae during 24 h after infection that is during the germination of P. larvae endospores and the penetration of vegetative cells into...
The pre-studies were conducted in order to elaborate methodology for identification of live caddis fl ies larvae. Moreover, the possibilities of using these methods are shown. The study showed that it is possible to identify live caddies flies larvae to family level. Cultures conducted in natural habitat revealed that caddies flies can rebuild cases but their quality varies.
The proteolytic system of insects, both its protease activities, and protease inhibitors activities, in the hemolymph and digestive tract are poorly described. The authors present protease inhibitors activities in connection with the level of antifungal activities as a part of the honeybee body surface proteolytic system. The object of the study was to compare this in castes (the queen, workers and...
