This paper presents numerical analysis of strength in virtual hip and knee joints by means of the finite elements method FEM. Predicting the places in implants, where damage or premature wear may occur, is extremely important. The obtained results helped to exhibit weak points in examined models, and thus may be used to protect premature wear of endoprosthesis elements. The numerical analysis was...
Hip replacement surgery, by introducing a specific replacement head on the stem and cup, completely changes the conditions of co-operation typical for the biological correct pair. The clinical selection of endoprosthesis, apart from other conditionings, involves a dilemma between the choice of a rigid tribological node and the selection of a susceptible bearing cushioning the locomotive loads. The...
This paper contains the results of the load analysis of a modular hip joint endoprosthesis, performed by means of the finite elements method, using Autodesk Simulation Mechanical 2016 software. A geometric model was created based on real solutions using Autodesk Inventor Professional. The obtained results make it possible to indicate the “weak points” of the accepted solution, and thus counteract...
The paper presents analysis of stress distribution in the friction node of knee joint endoprosthesis where sleds are made of various titanium and CoCrMo alloys and cooperate with flat polyethylene inserts. Currently used titanium alloys consist of Nb, Ta, Zr or Mo and with lesser value of Young’s modulus than Ti6Al4V alloy, or steel CoCrMo, which significantly varies from other metal materials. The...
The paper presents the numerical analysis of stress occurring in the friction node of bi-condylar knee endoprostheses. The Finite Elements Method allows one to calculate and present the stress distribution in all elements of the computing model.
The paper presents the numerical analysis of stress occurring in the most wearable parts of knee joint endoprostheses. That applies to the pair: sled - spherical insert. The Finite Elements Method makes it possible to calculate the stress in particular elements of the tested model. The interaction between the two parts of endoprosthesis takes place on a comparatively small contact surface.
