A multi-standard, multi-band fully-integrated interstage filter-free receiver with integrated auto-centered TX leakage filtering is fabricated in a 65 nm CMOS technology. The measured TX selectivity in UMTS band II is 9.1 dB, the receiver gain at 1.96 GHz is 54.1 dB, and NF is 3.68 dB. The 0.5 dB reference sensitivity degradation caused by TX leakage is reached at a TX power level of -20 dBm/3.84MHz.
Sampling-based downconversion architecture was proposed in (R. Barrak et al., 2007) for multistandard RF subsampling receiver. By an appropriate choice of RF and IF subsampling frequencies complete multistandard RF bands are downconverted to baseband. This paper presents a reconfigurable discrete-time switched capacitor filter at the baseband stage which serves as an anti-aliasing and a decimation...
This paper introduces a combined UMTS/GNSS receiver architecture with a single reconfigurable radio frequency (RF) front-end. After a review of the state-of-the-art for UMTS and NAVSAT receivers, a configurable UMTS/-GNSS architecture is proposed. The investigated concept is based on a digital-front-end (DFE) to prevent duplication of hardware, which will result in considerably lower costs. The DFE...
This paper gives an insight on how to derive the minimum required specifications both for the anti-aliasing filter (AAF) and the analog-to-digital converter (ADC) in the case of an UMTS receiver. Based on the receiver specifications, we come up with a design plan for both discrete time ΣΔ ADC as well as for a continuous time ΣΔ ADC.
A fourth-order low-pass continuous-time filter for a UMTS/WLAN receiver of a reconfigurable terminal is presented. The filter uses the cascade of two Active-Gm-RC biquad cells. A single opamp is used for each biquad and its unity-gain-bandwidth is comparable to the filter cut-off frequency. Thus, the opamp power consumption is strongly reduced w.r.t. other closed-loop filter configurations. The cut-off...
This paper presents a systematic technique for designing high order stable continuous-time (CT) delta-sigma modulator (ΔΣM) for multistandard receiver. The proposed design methodology permits the synthesis of 78M employing continuous-time integrators and resonators from discrete-time topologies. 5th and 10th order respectively Low Pass (LP) and Band Pass (BP) ΔΣM examples are given to illustrate the...
