In this manuscript, we propose to use optical pulse compression in a dispersion-shifted fiber (DSF) to enhance the output power in photonic-based RF generation. In a 60-GHz RF generation experiment using a DSF, an RF gain due to the optical pulse compression of 5.2 dB was obtained at a DSF length of 15 km and an average optical power to the DSF of 20.0 dBm.
