In the present paper unranked tableaux calculus is discussed, which extends the classical first order tableaux calculus for formulas over unranked terms. The correctness and completeness theorems of the calculus are proved and its expressive power in Web-related applications are illustrated.
Ontology is one of the most important components of semantic based information systems which provides context to the document. Ontology enables us to define relationship between different terminologies from diverse domains. To interpret this information and perform reasoning we require to store Ontologies in a way that retrieval becomes easy. Ontologies are defined using OWL (Web ontology language)...
After analyzing some defects of Extensible Markup Language (XML), this paper introduces a new data representation model, Extensible Connection Language (XCL) by using homostructure mapping based on a new concept, matter network. Furthermore, some advantages of XCL are stated and then the potential application in semantic web is described.
There are many approaches toward semantic interpretation of natural language nowadays. Most follow the direction that is to extract key information from contexts in natural language and rearrange them into hierarchical structures. XML is one of such structures. The approach has been proved to be an effective and useful in many applications. XML-based semantic Web is striving to build up a Web that...
Nowadays, the research of crawlers moves closer to the semantic web, along with the appearance of increasing XML/RDF/OWL files and the rapid development of ontology mark-up languages. As an emerging concept, metadata abstraction crawlers are a series of crawlers that aim to abstract metadata from normal HTML documents, based on various semantic Web technologies. In this paper, we make a general survey...
Statistical graphs are ubiquitous mechanisms for data visualization such that most, if not all, enterprises communicate information through them. However, many graphs are stored as unstructured images or proprietary binary objects, making them difficult to work with beyond the reports in which they are embedded. While graphs can be mapped to more common XML representations, these lack expressive semantics...
As the Web services and grid community adopt semantic Web technology, we observe a shift towards higher-level workflow composition and service discovery practices. While this provides excellent functionality to non-expert users, more sophisticated middleware is required to hide the details of service invocation and service integration. An investigation of a common bioinformatics use case reveals that...
Integrating with ontology and XML schema, taking advantage of Web service, this paper develops a service oriented information representation architecture&SOIRA to solve the semantic heterogeneity of distributed and semi-structured information. It introduces a mediated semantic schema originating from ontology to XML schema, discusses the multi-matching strategy between the mediated schema and...
