Approximately 20% of the two million troops who have deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan may require treatment for posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD). We review treatment outcome studies on individual outpatient therapy for military-related PTSD, and consider the extent to which veterans initiate and complete available PTSD treatments.
