A compact planar monopole antenna with standard band-notched characteristic suitable for ultra-wideband (UWB) applications is presented. This microstrip-fed antenna, consisting of a bevelled and slotted rectangular planar monopole with a vertical tuning stub, only occupies a small size of 30(W)×35(L) ×1.6(H) mm3 included the ground plane. The length and width of the stub primarily determine the notched...
This paper represents a simulated and experimental study of the planar inverted-F antenna (PIFA). It involves the changes in different parameters to observe their effects on the antenna characteristics such as the resonant frequency, impedance bandwidth and radiation pattern. It is found that the characteristics are affected by a number of parameters which include dimensions of ground plane, length,...
We estimate the radius of a perfect electric conductor (PEC) half-sphere placed on a ground plane, given six bi-conical antennas that suffer from manufacturing errors. The results are complemented by an analytical model of the sensor system and the scatterer. The analytical model includes the front-end electronics in combination with the antenna radiation impedance and the radiation field function.
The designs of dual-band and wide-band microstrip patch antennas with conical radiation patterns are presented in this paper. The antenna is composed of a square-ring patch that is shorted to the ground plane through four shorting walls. Three resonant modes with conical radiation patterns can be simultaneously excited in the antenna structure by a patch-loaded coaxial probe inside the square-ring...
