A novel method has been developed to prepare efficient electrocatalysts for methanol oxidation using graphene oxide (GO) as the support, and the deposited Pt-Ru particles on the sheets of GO are very thin nanoplatelets. The method mainly includes the following steps: Pb2+ adsorption on the sheets of GO, Pb2+ electrochemical reduction and galvanic displacement of Pb0 by Pt2+ and Ru3+. The prepared...
This paper proposes a high reaction area (HRA) electrode with finely dispersed electrocatalysts supported on carbon nanotubes (CNTs) for high performance micro direct methanol fuel cell (μDMFC). Ionomer Nafion® loading by spin-coating on the catalysts was in-detail investigated for performance enhancement in anodic half-cell. In terms of electrochemical surface area (ESA) and charge transfer resistance...
Highly roughened and catalytic macroporous Au with Pt nanoparticles (macroporous Au-/nPts) hybrid electrode was newly fabricated and characterized for compact nonenzymatic glucose biofuel cell (BFC) applications. Two disk type macroporous Au-/nPts hybrid electrodes were then sandwiched with Nafion film for fabricating a extremely miniaturized BFC device with a cathode and an anode electrodes. As expected,...
The mechanism of ‘hydrogen spill-over’ on Pt/WO 3 electrode is reviewed and the application of this catalyst system for the anodic oxidation of small molecules and impure H 2 is discussed. The results obtained to date suggest that the catalyst operates as a bifunctional catalyst and its performance is significantly better than PtRu or PtSn anode catalysts.
