This paper presents an improvement for a bit error rate (BER) performance in a free-space optical communication system over log-normal fading channel and misalignment effect, by using single-input multiple-output (SIMO) technique with maximal ratio combining. Differential phase shift keying with subcarrier intensity modulation is applied. The BER closed-form expression is obtained and compared to...
This research work focuses to design Hybrid OCDMA over WDM system with advance modulation techniques DPSK which will improve the performance for long distance fiber length. Hybrid system merges with different types of techniques like OCDMA and WDM. Modified double weight (MDW) code is proposed as the signature address code. Multiuser interference and increase the bit-error-rate might be condense satisfactory...
In this paper, average bit error rate (BER) and outage probability are analysed in the free-space optical (FSO) system employing subcarrier intensity modulation (SIM) with differential phase shift keying (DPSK). The FSO channel is described by the lognormal atmospheric turbulence and the pointing error effects. Closed-form analytical expressions for the average BER and outage probability are proposed...
A silicon-on-insulator (SOI)-based Mach–Zehnder delay interferometer fabricated in a 220-nm height and 500-nm width SOI strip waveguide technology is presented. The delay line length of 20 ps in the interferometer is optimized to a data rate of 50 Gb/s. The measured insertion loss of the device is 16 dB, including the facet losses. At the output of the demodulator, an approximately 20-dB extinction...
We investigate photonic packet switches that allow scaling to a large number of input and output ports. The suggested switch architectures are based on technology that has already been demonstrated. We focus on a simple Spanke node architecture. Scalable, low latency optical packet switches sub-systems capable to switch optical packets with multiple modulation formats are reviewed. The optical packet...
We demonstrate a 1??16 optical packet switch sub-system for 160 Gbps RZ-OOK and 12 ?? 10 Gbps multi-wavelength DPSK packets. We show error-free operation with maximum penalties of 0.7 dB for 160 Gbps RZ-OOK and 0.6 dB for multi-wavelength DPSK packets.
We demonstrate long-haul transmission of 50-Gb/s RZ and NRZ-DQPSK signals generated using an electroabsorption-based optical vector modulator. Transmission over 1650 km is achieved with less than 1.2 dB OSNR penalty relative to back-to-back performance.
We describe high-speed vectorial modulation techniques for high-capacity transmission systems. Integrated parallel Mach-Zehnder modulators can achieve various types of lightwave modulation, such as differential quadrature phase shift keying, quadrature amplitude modulation.
