In this paper, based on TT, BJH and VDR models with the “slow-to-start” rule, we studied the initial effects on energy dissipation of traffic flow and the characteristics of traffic jamming. Numerical results show that different initial condition affects significantly energy dissipation under the periodic boundary condition. Energy dissipation respectively breaks down at density ρ1/(1+vmax) and ρ0...
In the real road traffic system, local congestion always occurs near the intersections or bus stops, which have become the main bottlenecks of the urban traffic. Considering the combined effect of intersection and a near-by bus stop, this paper investigates the lane-changing and dwelling behaviors in a two-lane mixed traffic and carries out the simulation by using a cellular automaton model under...
Pick-up and set-out trains refer to these trains marshaled in technological station, serving for vehicles flow in the district, whose pick-up and set-out operations are done in intermediate stations in the district. Running of limiting speed pick-up and set-out trains has an impair on railway transport capacity and research on railway transport capacity loss mechanism for limiting speed pick-up and...
Pedestrian movement behavior can be analyzed in different ways. One of the most common approaches for this subject is the cellular automata. However, the pedestrian behavior is usually modeled by a reactive-response framework. Also, the pedestrians are treated as just numbers or elements in a grid. This paper proposes a basic framework for a multi-agent pedestrian movement model. Applying the same...
We describe our development of a road traffic multi CA (Cellular Automata) model of the four most common types of 4-way intersection (Yield-controlled intersections, Stop-controlled intersections, Signal-controlled intersections, and Roundabout-based intersection). We developed this model to study how these four different types of 4-way intersection affect road traffic flow & congestion in general...
Based on the basic symmetric two lane cellular automaton model (STCA), we propose a modified STCA (MSTCA) for mixed traffic flow. In MSTCA, the headway also could be used for lane changing, and then the length for safety criterion would be extended a lot. Lane changing region and first cell for lane changing on the other lane could be located. The situation while there are successive vehicles satisfies...
In this paper, we propose a more realistic cellular automata model for on-ramp system, in which both the finer discretization and the lane-changing time are considered. The phase diagram, the capacity of the on-ramp system are investigated. The simulation results show that the capacity drop phenomenon can be well reproduced when the two factors are introduced.
In this paper, we use CA model to study the traffic flow on a ring road with one traffic light. A velocity guidance strategy is presented: when crossing traffic light, a message will give the driver a desired velocity in order that he can avoid sharply brakes when signal light turns red. The numerical results show that the velocity guidance strategy can efficiently reduce the ratio of the stopped...
A new bicycle model based on cellular automata was presented in this paper, which was built according to analyzing the characteristics of bicycle flow and the riderspsila behaviors. The bicycle had two moving direction in this model and the s-track could be simulated through this model. Several simulations were operated under periodic boundary condition to validate the accuracy of the model. The simulation...
