The performance of spindle motor system is crucial to HDD. The trend of ultrahigh ADD recording in the drive is bringing challenges to the spindle motor system. The paper presents several ways to handle these challenges, which include the measures in electromagnetic structure, mechanical system, and power drive.
We present a new integrated electromechanical set for automotive hybrid propulsion systems. It consists of two concentric permanent-magnet (PM) machines with inner and outer surface-mounted PM rotors, and a stator sandwiched between the two rotors, yielding a so-called ldquosingle-stator dual-rotor PM machinerdquo. The stator magnetic circuit consists of two concentric parts decoupled by a nonmagnetic...
The diametrical inversion (DI) of the stator voltages has been used to control the rotor position of the three-phase-induction motor. In this paper the DI is applied on a single-phase induction motor drive to control its speed. The change of the speed error sign causes a DI. Each DI inverts the stator voltage phasor and its angular velocity. The main and the auxiliary windings are always connected...
An induction motor model based on the per-phase equivalent circuit is used to simulate operation with an open circuit fault. The model considers both spatial field harmonics as well as saturation effects to correctly model the motor's behaviour under faulty conditions, where the non-linearities may produce problematic torque pulsations due to the unbalanced nature of the winding distribution. A model...
The present paper deals with the study of a rotor current excited vernier reluctance machine. First, we introduce the structure and the conditions on teeth, as well as the polarity numbers necessary for the smooth running of such a structure. We then describe a simple method used to design a prototype. Finally, using 2D FEM, we study a prototype. Different results are presented and discussed.
This paper is focused on the speed control of a single or two phase induction motor using a diametrical inversion (DI) of the stator voltages. The changes in the speed error sign are responsible for each DI which inverts the stator voltage phasor and its angular velocity. The main and the auxiliary windings are always connected and thus the speed error sign allows to determinate the rotating field...
Wound rotor three phase induction motor with series connected stator and rotor winding is an object of analysis in this paper. This type of connection enables specific operating regime when induction motor works as a synchronous motor at double synchronous speed. Electromagnetic torque analysis shows that other synchronous torque could also be expected at 2/3 of synchronous speed. Multiple coupled...
Multiphase motor drives posses many advantages over the traditional three-phase motor drives such as reducing the amplitude and increasing the frequency of torque pulsation, reducing the stator current per phase without increasing the voltage per phase, lowering the dc link current harmonics and higher reliability. By increasing the number of phases it is also possible to increase the torque per ampere...
The opposite-rotation dual mechanical ports (ODMP) PMSM is a novel machine applied to special situation, its electrical-magnetic relationship is different from traditional PMSM, so research on analysis method and design theory is necessary, especially for influence of main parameters on machine performance. The structure and operation principle are discussed. Its mathematic model adopted by dual d-q...
This paper proposes a novel torque control system for the flywheel motor which is applied to the satellite attitude control system. A corresponding novel control method for the four-quadrant operation is introduced. Via this method, the torque stability can be improved, and the torque jumps can be reduced effectively. Analysis and experimental results verify the effectiveness of the system.
