This paper presents a method to measure the frequency dependent impedance of an electric machine to calculate the additional losses caused by inverter output voltage harmonics. These losses are calculated by combining the calculated inverter output voltage spectrum and the measured frequency dependent impedance of the machine.
The measurement of grounding system impedance may be affected by power system frequency interference and its harmonics. The Shifted Frequency Method (SFM) is potentially insensitive to the electromagnetic interference. In this paper, we evaluate this method in the hydroelectric power plant for two different load conditions of the connected overhead power lines. Presented field tests results further...
This paper describes an Inductive Shunt PLC coupler, for coupling wideband PLC signals onto power lines with high efficiency and low distortion and shows how this can be used for measuring PLC frequency impedances of power lines, distribution transformers, motors or any other appliance. The paper presents some impedance measurements of power lines, appliances and distribution transformers.
With the advantage of high bandwidth and small insertion impedance, a current surface probe (CSP) used to measure switching current waveforms is presented in this paper. Its transfer impedance is characterized and validated in the first time by measuring an IGBT switching current with a passive current probe (CP) and a Hall effect current probe (HECP). It is also shown that a return current beneath...
Portable Impedance/Reflected Power Meter consists of an integrated system with 1) a portable circuit designed to make voltage and current measurements in a power-line carrier circuit, 2) a digitizer (NI USB-5132) capable of sampling signals in the frequency range of 30 kHz to 500 kHz, and 3) a LabVIEW application configured to acquire the signal from the digitizer to a computer and perform computation...
This paper discusses the design of a 60 GHz low noise amplifier (LNA) using a standard low power SOI CMOS process from ST Microelectronics. First, we outline the technology as well as the mm-wave design challenges. Using recent work on coplanar waveguide (CPW) modeling, we describe how it's possible to use parametric, 3D electromagnetic simulation to complete or replace analytical models of on-chip...
