Hydrogen production from a water-ethanol mixture in dielectric barrier discharge was investigated. The effect of feed stream of ethanol on ethanol conversion and energy yield was studied. In the reactor with 2.6 cm3 of active volume the maximum ethanol conversion was 100% an energy yield of 8.4 g (H2)/kWh. Besides H2, the reaction products were CO, CH4 and a small amount of C2H4, C2H6, CO2 and soot.
In order to meet the energy demand and to have a cleaner environment, the interest in new and renewable energy sources has been increasing. In this regard, biomass is one of the renewable energy sources and it can be used to obtain solid, liquid and gaseous energy products for various purposes. In this study, gasification reactions of tobacco waste have been carried out in an updraft gasifier in the...
Energy systems of the future will need to be cleaner, more reliable, much efficient and sustainable. Hydrogen looks a promising energy carrier and considered to be one of the best candidates for replacing fossil fuels. But hydrogen is not an elemental form (H2), it is found in nature only as part of other compounds such as natural gas, petroleum and coal, and can be produced generally by steam reforming...
Summary form only given. Characteristics of copyrolysis polyethylene (PE) with greenhouse gas carbon dioxide (CO2) was investigated in a horizontal DC plasma jet reactor, for the aim to adjust the H2/CO molar ratio in the gaseous products in a wide range to further synthesize liquid fuel. For comparison, pyrolysis PE alone as well as pyrolysis CO2 alone was also studied in light of CO yield. Results...
