In this paper, the air-gap flux density characteristics of three permanent-magnet vernier machines (PMVMs) with different rotor-PM topologies, i.e., surface, Halbach and spoke-array types are analyzed and compared. The investigated machines share the same stator configuration characterized by fractional-slot concentrated windings and multitooth split-pole structure. By using the finite-element analysis,...
This paper aims to present the operation principle of the magnetic gear by the finite-element method (FEM). The effect of the modulation phenomena is explained using the Coaxial Magnetic Gear as reference. The approach consists basically in obtaining the flux densities waves for the machine air gaps and then analyzes its harmonic spectra. Additionally, the cogging torque for both air gaps is shown.
This paper introduces an improved magnetic-geared permanent magnet (MGPM) in-wheel motor with high power density and torque density for electric vehicles (EVs). Due to the integrating of the magnetic gear and omitting of the gear inner rotor, the motor can achieve the low speed direct driving and high speed compact designing requirements with even simple structure. The principle and optimized structure...
