In this work, a reduced complexity wideband linear SIC multi-user detector that is suitable for large-dimension wireless/wired systems in which the multi-access interference is varying rapidly (i.e. current long-code CDMA systems) is introduced. The proposed scheme exhibits low computational complexity and can converge to either the decorrelator or the LMMSE detectors. It uses a set of weighting factors...
This paper proposes a lattice-reduction aided detection (LRAD) based successive interference cancellation (SIC). The proposed detector achieves as good as or better BER performances than the conventional LR aided MMSE detector and using the SIC for QPSK, 16QAM and 64QAM in the 8×8 MIMO systems. It also achieves BER curves to be as steep as or steeper than those using the maximum likelihood detector.
Successive interference cancellation (SIC) is an effective way of multipacket reception to combat interference. We study link scheduling under SINR (Signal to Interference Noise Ratio) model in ad hoc networks with SIC at physical layer. The facts that interference is accumulated and the links decoded sequentially by SIC are correlated pose key technical challenges. We propose conflict set graph (CSG)...
Successive interference cancellation (SIC) is an effective technique of multipacket reception to combat interference. As not all collision are resolvable, careful transmission coordination is required. We study link scheduling in wireless networks with SIC at the physical layer. A new model, simultaneity graph (SG), is proposed to characterize the link correlation introduced by SIC. Then two new scheduling...
In this paper, we propose the low-complexity FPGA implementation of a reconfigurable successive interference cancellation (SIC) detector for combating the effect of multiuser interference in wired/wireless systems. The complexity of various building blocks is reduced and then the whole structure is pipelined. Using the PXI-7842R platform from National Instruments, the SIC detector is implemented and...
In our previous work on multiuser communications, two methods were investigated for user separation in a time-invariant, underwater acoustic environment. The first method employed the conventional and adaptive time-reversal mirrors to either passively or actively remove multiuser interference, and the second introduced iterative, successive interference cancellation (SIC) as another active procedure...
This paper presents an efficient multiuser Multiple Input Multiple Output (MU-MIMO) detection algorithm. It introduces Cholesky Decomposition (CLD) and deploys Successive Interference Cancellation (SIC) detection. This study reveals that the proposed algorithm delivers equivalent performance to the QR Decomposition (QRD) based detection algorithm, with adequately lower complexity. As well, the CLD...
A novel spatial-multiplexing orthogonal frequency- division multiplexing (OFDM) transmission system with transmit diversity provided by space-frequency block code (SFBC) is proposed in this paper. The proposed scheme combines Alamouti scheme and Bell Labs layered space-time (BLAST) together, thus can achieve transmit diversity and spatial multiplexing gains altogether. Two-step iterative detection...
In the uplink of OFDMA (Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiple Access) based M-WiMAX (Mobile-Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access) system, linear phase shift is caused by signals transmitted from multiuser with different delay time and thus, MAI (Multiple Access Interference) occurs. MAI degrades the performance of ranging code detection and delay time estimation in the uplink. Therefore,...
A well-known interference cancellation technique called successive interference cancellation (SIC) has been proved to have an excellent performance for mitigating inter-carrier interference (ICI) in orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) system. However, since the complexity of SIC is proportional to the number of OFDM subcarriers N, the realization of this detector become impractical,...
Spectrum sharing between wireless networks improves the efficiency of spectrum usage, and thereby alleviates spectrum scarcity due to growing demands for wireless broadband access. To improve the usual underutilization of the cellular uplink spectrum, this paper addresses spectrum sharing between a cellular uplink and a mobile ad hoc networks. These networks access either all frequency subchannels...
This paper proposes an improved lattice-reduction aided (LRA) MMSE detection with successive interference cancellation (SIC) using both the forward and the backward (F&B) reduction LLL algorithms. We also apply a simple list detection to the F&B-LRA MMSE with SIC. The proposed detector provides good BER performance relatively close to that with the ML detection for both QPSK and 16QAM in the...
In this paper, the recently proposed linear group-wise parallel interference cancellation (LGPIC) detector is identified as a preconditioned block Richardson iterative method. This facilitates considerably the analysis of the convergence behavior of different group-detection schemes. Moreover, by using this approach, the effect of grouping is easily studied as well. Finally, simulation results conducted...
In this paper, we consider a V-BLAST/STBC wireless communication architecture, which integrates Alamouti space-time block codes (STBC) layer with vertical Bell-labs layered space-time (V-BLAST) layer, in MIMO wireless communication system with four transmitter and three receiver antennas over Rayleigh flat-fading channel. We propose an algorithm, which combines the algorithm of successive interference...
