Based on the recognition of context for physics teaching in current middle schools, this paper reports a web-based virtual lab (IWVL) for junior high schools' physics experimental teaching. The theoretical foundations for system design, system architecture, functional characteristics, experimental platforms, and four usage scenarios of IWVL are highlighted in the discussions.
