While it is not recommended, Internet users tend to include personal information in their passwords for easy memorization. However, the use of personal information in passwords and its security implications have yet to be studied. In this paper, we dissect user passwords from several leaked data sets to investigate the extent to which a user’s personal information resides in a password. Then, we introduce...
In this paper, we introduce our multi-document summarization system for Turkish news. The aim of the summarization system is to build a single document for multi document news that have been collected previously. The news were collected from several Turkish news sources via Real Simple Syndication (RSS). They were separated into clusters according to their topics. We utilized cosine similarity metric...
Recent years have witnessed a resurgence of interest in video summarization. However, one of the main obstacles to the research on video summarization is the user subjectivity — users have various preferences over the summaries. The subjectiveness causes at least two problems. First, no single video summarizer fits all users unless it interacts with and adapts to the individual users. Second,...
Broadcasting companies have started offering video-on-demand services to provide their viewers with various kinds of TV programs. Most of these services have a program retrieval system that helps users find the TV programs they would like to watch. The conventional systems retrieve TV programs by keyword matching of the query and the TV program summary. However, it is difficult for these systems to...
Due to the explosive growth of visual data and the raised urgent needs for more efficient nearest neighbor search methods, hashing methods have been widely studied in recent years. However, parameter optimization of the hash function in most available approaches is tightly coupled with the form of the function itself, which makes the optimization difficult and consequently affects the similarity preserving...
In this paper, we present an automatic query translation in Arabic for information retrieval. This system, implements a method for lexical disambiguation of terms in a query. To choose the best sense, each term of the query is projected on the French EuroWordNet and we extract his related concepts in order to form a semantic network. In a second time using the same type of network, but by integrating...
Every person is unique and has different sets of individual traits and characteristics. Although people possess different types of personalities, in the end they manage to understand each other and interact regardless of these differences. Starting from the simplest language elements, a simple remark is that, in general, people use certain words more frequently than others. These words might reveal...
Blog clustering is an important approach of web public opinion analysis. In this paper, an integrated graph-based approach for representing and clustering Chinese blogs by embedded sentiment is proposed. Graph-based representation and relevant clustering algorithm are applied. This graph-based blogs representation model considers not only sentiment words but also some structural information. Experimental...
The paper presents a graph-based, shallow semantic analysis-driven approach for modeling document contents. This allows to extract additional information about meaning of text and effects in improved document classification. Its performance is compared against the “legacy” bag-of-words and Schenker et al. approaches with k - NN classification based on Polish and English news articles.
