To date extensive research efforts have confirmed that optical properties of bulk semiconductors and metals are substantially modified when they are transformed into nano-dimensions. For example, metal nanoparticles with dimensions less than hundred nanometers strongly oscillate at a specific resonance frequency to generate localized surface plasmons depending on their size. This creates strongly...
CdTe/Cd1-xMnxS core-shell structure nanoparticles were successfully synthesized in aqueous solution assisted by microwave irradiation. The photoluminescence spectra showed that incorporating low level Mn2+ in outer inorganic shell will not quench the photoemission of quantum dots. The doped nanocrystals exhibited high photoluminescence quantum yield (PLQY), reaching 52% in water under optimum condition.
Luminescent nanoparticles with advantageous properties for optoelectronics applications come in both inorganic and organic forms. Inorganic semiconductor nanocrystals (NCs), primarily based on CdSe/ZnS, are highly efficient light-emitters in the visible range of the spectrum; truxene oligofluorenes are an organic counterpart with similarly attractive properties. In this work, we developed nanocomposites...
