BelSAR is an ESA funded project for acquiring and analyzing airborne bistatic Synthetic Aperture Radar data at L band, in support of the SAOCOM passive radar satellite under study at the agency. MetaSensing has built two L band SAR systems able to work in bistatic mode. A few test flights have been performed in The Netherlands and the paper reports the first results of the airborne bistatic campaign.
Decreasing the carbon emission from the deforestation and forest degradation is one of the issues that the humans need to tag for sustaining the Earth. Monitoring the forest from the space is the recent achievements that the space agencies contribute. Measuring the forest cover change is being conducted by using the high resolution optical and/or SAR images. ALOS-2 has been on-orbit carrying the L-band...
Field measurements of dielectric properties of hypersaline deposits were realized over an arid site located in Death Valley, CA. The dielectric constant of salt and water mixtures is usually high but can show large variations, depending on the considered salt. We confirmed values observed on the field with laboratory measurements and used these results to model both the amplitude and phase behaviors...
Two ALOS/PALSAR polarimetry data taken in 2006 were used and examined the deforestation stage by using coherence value. Many trees were fallen by a typhoon hit on September 8, 2004 at a test site in Japan. Reforestation has started for the deforestation sites and several kinds of deforestation stages are appeared there. We classified the stands into four groups. 1) Only small stumps and branches are...
