The paper presents the natural extension DTC principle of three level diode clamped voltage inverter fed induction motor. This technique is based on a simple algorithm using look-up table for a three-level inverter established from a standard two-level inverter. The control algorithm is implemented using Field Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGA) with VHDL coding.
The Direct Torque Control (DTC) has well-known advantages over conventional techniques applied to electric machines, including the reduction of the switching frequency through the use of hysteresis comparators and robustness with the respect to parameter variations. But it has some disadvantages such as high torque and flux ripple, difficulties in controlling torque and flux at low speed. In this...
The direct torque control of induction motor has good dynamic performance of torque and flux. However, the switching frequency (in the case of conventional DTC) is variable and difficult to control due to the use of hysteresis controllers. This lack of control over frequency is the origin of torque and flux ripples. Similarly, the use of a voltage inverter with two levels limits the power of the drive...
Due to control simplicity and easy applicability DTC has become popular and adopted in many industrial applications. But it still suffers from a few drawbacks like- comparatively large torque ripple in a low speed range and its performance is highly depended on speed of the motor and hysteresis bands of torque and flux ripple. To address these problems, this paper represents a direct torque control...
This paper presents a simple dynamic overmodulation method to obtain a fast dynamic torque response in DTC of induction machines with constant switching frequency controller. A fast dynamic torque response can be obtained by switching only the most optimized voltage vector during torque dynamic condition. The optimized voltage vector can be identified by comparing the rate of change of torque produced...
This paper presents a direct torque control (DTC) applied to a three-phase asynchronous motor supplied by three-phase rectifier with absorption of the sinusoidal current cascaded with a two levels inverter in order to improve certain electrical sizes as the source current, and other mechanical characteristics as the undulations of the torque and the flux's distortion. The speed control is realised...
