Marine oil spill is an inevitable and undesirable consequence of producing and transporting petroleum, as well as the associated refined products. To reduce oil spill pollution, China has made many great achievements to develop adequate pollution contingency plans for several years. During the oil spill response, it is important to understand the behavior and fate of spilled oil in the forecasting...
This paper describes the plans for a new information system to supply nowcasts and forecasts of current information for navigation to the Port of Rotterdam. The system will consist of both HF radar and a 3D hydrodynamic model. The currents measured by the HF radar will be assimilated into the 3D model to provide the best forecast.
Littoral hydrodynamic models are valuable tools for characterizing near shore waves and currents. There are a number of ways to prescribe boundary conditions for the model. A tide model is used to obtain astronomic boundary conditions, or among other sources, a regional model can provide time series boundary conditions. We investigate the differences imposed by these two types of boundary conditions...
Paper describes the complex of hydrodynamic models that will serve as a basis for creating the operational forecast system for the coastal zone of the Russian part of the Gulf of Finland. The complex includes an atmospheric model, hydrodynamic models of the Baltic Sea as well as regional models with high spatial resolution. The test runs with SPBM (St.Petersburg Baltic Model) and NEVAM (Neva Bay model)...
