We present a numerical and experimental study of surface plasmon resonance (SPR) excitation in a bent single-mode optical fiber with metalized cladding. It is shown that with a suitable combination of bend radius and metal film thickness surface plasmon waves can be excited in the film as a result of coupling between fundamental and surface plasmon modes via whispering gallery modes supported by the...
Surface Plasmon Resonance (SPR) based sensors have emerged as dominant tools for real-time monitoring of biomolecular interaction. SPR biosensors are very versatile and can be adapted to detect almost any analyte for which a biorecognition element is known. This paper presents the development of a prism coupler based low cost SPR instrument for biosensing applications. Sensor calibration experiments...
A novel surface plasmon resonance (SPR) microscope/imager which allows for both angular and wavelength scanning has been constructed. Images of mesenchymal stem cells were obtained using this versatile instrument and found to be superior in clarity to those captured by the angular scanning dependent SPR microscopy/imaging techniques.
