The motor speed of an induction machine can be accurately estimated by utilizing speed-dependent harmonics in the stator current. This paper presents a PLL-based approach to identify one of these harmonics and reduce bandwidth-limiting filtering operations. Experimental results show the ability for tracking dynamic speed transitions.
In this paper, the work has been developed aiming at reduction of inverter non-linear influences on high frequency carrier voltage injection sensorless control algorithm. For this method, inverter non-linear errors introduce distortions of the motor stator voltage that degrade the estimation performance. The main cause is the deviation of the high frequency voltage vector angle used for the demodulation...
This paper deals with the sensorless vector control of a doubly fed induction generator (DFIG) whose stator is connected by a rectifier to a dc link, which also feeds the rotor-side inverter. A noticeable reduction of the costs can be achieved by this topology, because only a single inverter and a diode rectifier are needed instead of the traditional back-to-back converter. A sensorless stator-flux-oriented...
A new sensorless control algorithm for surface mounted permanent magnet synchronous machines with direct torque control (DTC) is proposed. The DTC usually operates with a short sampling period, therefore estimation algorithms need to be computationally cheap. Moreover, injection of high-frequency (hf) signals into a given axis can be a challenging task in comparison with a standard vector control...
This paper proposes the fast initial position estimation of IPMSMs (Interior Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motors), based on intentional pulse voltage injection and comb filters. Generally, the rotor position can be estimated by detecting high-frequency current caused by injected high-frequency voltage because its response includes inductance information due to saliency. In general, sinusoidal current,...
The sensorless estimation principle of rotor speed and position for PMSM by high-frequency signal injection is given. The characteristic and filtering method of high-frequency current signal, rotor position signal extraction based on victor transformation and heterodyning processing method are introduced in detail. The simulation models are made, simulation results are obtained. The efficiency is...
The paper will deal with the potentials of two Surfaced-mounted PM type rotors, namely Inset rotor and Ringed-pole rotor for shaft position sensorless drives. For both the configurations, motor equations are given and discussed. In particular estimation of the rotor position based on high frequency voltage injection is described and merits and drawbacks pointed out and compared. Simulation and experimental...
This paper presents a hybrid rotor position estimation for permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) over wide speed range. At zero and low speeds, a rotor position error compensation scheme is proposed to improve the performance of high frequency signal injection method. This includes the incorporation of system modeling and Kalman filtering to improve the estimation performance during transient...
