We demonstrate a method of quantifying the penalty of in-band crosstalk that accounts for the varying spectral content. Successful 112 Gbit/s PDM-CSRZ-DQPSK transmission with coherent detection and digital electronic DSP post processing is reported over a 1730 km SSMF plus 300 km DCF field installed DWDM-system. A modular network approach with co-propagating 10 Gbit/s WDM-channels is achieved.
A 16×112 Gb/s field trial with EDFA only was performed over legacy fiber infrastructure partially with high PMD. Based on 43 Gb/s components we demonstrate by use of 112 Gb/s NRZ-DQPSK modulation format Metro DWDM transmission with carrier-grade margins of more than 4 dB over ultimate Metro distances.
