In this paper, we propose a footer voltage feedforward technique for wide fan-in dynamic gates to achieve high noise immunity while maintaining the delay and energy performance. Dynamic multiplexers designed and simulated in 90nm CMOS are used to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed design style.
Two simple implementations of circuits to extract VT are introduced. They are independent of body effect and operate on a single supply voltage VDD of less than two gate-source drops. Experimental and simulation results verify the circuit operation with a power dissipation P=60μA and with single supply VDD=1.4V in 0.5μm CMOS technology and with variations of the extracted threshold voltage of less...
Operation in the subthreshold region most often is synonymous to minimum-energy operation. Yet, the penalty in performance is huge. In this paper, we explore how design in the moderate inversion region helps to recover some of that lost performance, while staying quite close to the minimum-energy point. An energy-delay modeling framework that extends over the weak, moderate, and strong inversion regions...
Process variation is expected to persist in the various novel nanoscale fabrics being proposed to replace CMOS. Logic circuits built using non-traditional and bottom-up techniques will need to meet new design rules, such as tolerance of high defect rates and use of regular structures in layout. One circuit fabric type that meets these requirements is grid-based logic, with built-in fault resilience...
