In this paper, we propose a non-symmetry and anti-packing image representation model (NAM). NAM is a hierarchical image representation method and its aim is less data amount and faster operation. By taking a rectangle sub-pattern for example, we describe the idea of NAM. In this work, based on block-wise LS linear predictor method, a gray-coded bit-plane binary image NAM representation method is presented...
Multispectral imaging has attracted much interest in color science area, for its ability in providing much more spectral information than 3-channel color images. Due to the huge data volume, it is necessary to compress multispectral images for efficient transmission. This paper proposes a framework for spectral compression of multispectral image by using cluster-adaptive subspaces representation....
With the development of medical treatment, various kinds of medical images become more and more important. The traditional hierarchical structural image representation methods put too much emphasis upon the symmetry of segmentation, they are not the optimal image representation methods. DNAM-based multi-valued image presentation method has not only better compression ability but also has better reconstruction...
A new method for deblocking is proposed. It aims to reduce the blocking artifacts in the compressed image by analyzing their visibility. A perceptual map is obtained using some Human Visual System (HVS) characteristics. This perceptual map is used as input to a recursive filter to reduce the blocking effect. The obtained results have been compared with a very recent efficient method considered.
In this paper a new prediction method is proposed for compression of RNAi images. The large number of RNAi images that are produced, from experiments on biological cells for diagnosis and prognosis of diseases, require special compression methods. Images are segmented so that the boundaries of the cells are recognized from the smooth areas. The proposed scheme adaptively changes its function to exploit...
An image compression scheme is proposed, utilising wavelet- based image segmentation and texture analysis, and patch- based texture synthesis. This has been incorporated into a JPEG framework. Homogeneous textured regions are identified and removed prior to transform coding. These regions are then replaced at the decoder by synthesis from marked samples, and colour matched to ensure similarity to...
