A novel photonic approach to the implementation of RF photonic phase shifter is proposed. It is based on a polarization dependent optical phase modulator and a dual-parallel Mach-Zehnder modulator. The phase shift of RF signal has a predefined linear relationship with the dc bias voltage of the optical phase modulator. This enables users to easily determine the control voltage needed to realize the...
We demonstrate a stable photonic RF phase shifter based on a DGD element and a polarization sensitive optical phase modulator. The phase shift can be tuned linearly over 360° with a low electrical control voltage.
A novel linear photonic RF phase shifter base on polarization controller is presented and the theoretical fundamentals of the design are explained. A prototype of the phase shifter with 26.75 GHz bandwidth and 360 degrees tuning range is experimentally demonstrated.
