This paper introduces a theoretical framework for subcarrier and power allocation algorithms in rate-adaptive OFDMA systems. The focal point is locating “capacity-achieving” waterlevels for a given allocation in order to minimize the distance to the boundary of the capacity region. We prove that it is possible to restrict the choice of waterlevels to an optimality polyhedron. This paper introduces...
In this paper, we propose a new adaptive subcarrier allocation for a multiuser two-way OFDMA relay network. In the proposed algorithm, subcarriers are allocated to the user-pairs and relays to maximize the achievable sum-rate over all user-pairs while satisfying the minimum rate requirement for each user-pair. Simulation results show that the proposed algorithm improves spectral efficiency and fairness.
This letter addresses the problem of subcarrier and power allocation over an OFDMA system with multiple power constraints. Each power constraint is related to sharing a power resource by a subset of users. Here, a framework based on time-sharing method is proposed that allows for approaching the optimum solution via using a low complexity iterative algorithm. The provided solution sets an upper bound...
In this paper, we propose a low complexity heuristic algorithm for radio resource allocation in orthogonal frequency division multiple access (OFDMA) systems based on subcarrier channel distribution information (CDI). We consider practical rate adaptation in which rate is adapted using a predefined set of modulation levels, which is in contrast to previous works that consider continuous rate. We formulate...
This paper discusses on the fair resource allocation in OFDMA two-hop cooperative relaying cellular networks which consist of a single base station (BS), dedicated fixed relay stations (RSs) and user stations (USs). By assuming the relay strategy employed on each subcarrier is adaptively selected among direct transmission, amplify-and-forward (AF) and decode-and-forward (DF) according to different...
Utility theory based subcarrier allocation algorithms for OFDMA systems are discussed in this paper. Two suboptimal subcarrier allocation algorithms (UPF and NBS) under the utility proportional fairness criterion and Nash bargaining solution criterion are given, which both consider the tradeoff between utility fairness of users and system capacity. Furthermore, compared with rate proportional fairness...
