Software defined networking (SDN) and network function virtualization (NFV) are the embraced technologies for the backhauling of future 5G networks. Virtual Machine (VM) and Docker container based deployments have received much attention. This paper presents the virtualization of a prototyped software defined radio access network (RAN) architecture by using VMs and Docker containers. In addition,...
In this paper, we propose a new architecture for LTE/EPC network by leveraging the Openflow technology. We focus on making detail procedures for initial attach and default bearer setup in Openflow-enabled LTE/EPC network. By numerical analysis, we show the reduction of the signaling load of this procedure in our architecture compared to that in the traditional LTE/EPC architecture.
Nowadays, mobile operators face the challenge to sustain the future data tsunami. In fact, today's increasing data and control traffic generated by new kinds of network usage puts strain on mobile operators', without creating any corresponding equivalent revenue. In our previous work, we analyzed the 3GPP LTE/EPC architecture and showed that a redesign of this architecture is needed to suit future...
The on-demand connectivity service is one of the main requirements of the cellular data network. It consists in moving sessions transparently and temporarily from one network equipment to another without causing user session interruption. This service enables networks to cope with the ever-changing network condition such as sudden congestion or arbitrary network equipment failure. In this paper, we...
