A new multicast protection algorithm for mixed-graph mesh optical WDM networks is presented. Simulations show that the proposed algorithm outperforms the existing ones for this category of networks, in terms of blocking probability and average cost.
In a multi-domain network, domains may be defined based on geography or administrative boundaries. For domains that are constructed based on geographic locations, multiple links within the same domain may fail simultaneously due to geographically localized failure events. For domains that are defined administratively, a domain administrator may not be able to provide link-disjointness for two paths...
We investigate static and dynamic routing approaches in overlay IP/GMPLS over optical networks. Dynamic operation for full-wavelength services benefits from physical-layer impairment aware routing whereas static routing with sub-wavelength granularity demands relaxes transparent reach requirements.
We demonstrate a novel optical OFDMA ring network with an adaptive sub-carrier allocation algorithm, which utilizes queuing length and traffic characteristics to effectively support multicasting and real-time traffic flows.
In order to provide service differentiation on OBS networks, a shared FDL bank architecture was considered. The shared FDL bank architecture can reduce the size of OBS nodes while accomplishing the service differentiation between classes and guaranteeing the target blocking probability for each calss. Especially, the shared feed-forward type output buffering architecture was considered, and a dynamic...
In optical wavelength-division multiplexing (WDM) networks, the progress in new technologies is paving the road towards dynamic optical transport networks in which leasable circuits can be set up and released on a short-term basis while providing huge capacities to bandwidth-hungry applications. Since interruption of a high-speed optical connection means a huge loss of data information, such connections...
