Parameter uncertainties and unpredictable environmental disturbances reduce control performance of real control systems. For a robust control performance, stability and disturbance rejection are two main concerns that should be addressed in practical controller design problems. This paper presents an analysis to deal with system stability and disturbance rejection control for fractional-order PI (FOPI)...
In this paper an improved algorithm of computational verb PID controller is proposed. In the original design of verb PID controller, the modification of integral gain is coupled with that of the derivative gain. In this paper, the integral gain is modified independently by using a separated set of computational verb rules. The comparisons of tracking performance and robustness among conventional PID...
Atmospheric turbulence is one of important factors to affect UAV flight smoothly. To reduce the influence of atmospheric turbulence, active disturbance rejection controller is designed in this paper. Firstly, mathematical models are built for UAV movements and atmospheric turbulence. Secondly, the altitude controller and the lateral deviation controller with linear state equations are designed. Finally,...
The aim of this work is to present an experiment of liquid level process controlled by a reset PI+CI compensator. The results are compared with a well tuned linear PI compensator, showing that the reset compensator improves the performance in both setpoint tracking and disturbance rejection. The experiment validates the simulation results obtained for a tuning rule proposed in a previous work.
This paper analyzes the properties of controllers which are tuned by using direct controller tuning methods such as fictitious reference iterative tuning (FRIT) and virtual reference feedback tuning (VRFT). As a result, it is shown that due to disturbance, the tuned controllers depend on the reference signal, initial controller, and reference model. Moreover, it is shown that the controllers tuned...
A novel and Pedagogical approach for teaching the PID controller and its tuning parameters to the students and trainee engineers working in Control and Automation Engineering is presented. In short, a trainer/simulator for Proportional- Integral-Derivative Controller is developed. A third order system (Transfer Function) was used. However, there is no limiting factor in using the higher order system...
In this study, we propose a virtual reference feedback tuning (VRFT) method that can take into account a dead-zone. To this end, we first modify the performance index to be minimized in VRFT by focusing on the control error. We then present optimality conditions and their related filters in the modified VRFT method. Next we propose a VRFT method under dead-zone compensation by combining the modified...
Proportional-Integral-Derivative (PID) controllers are undoubtedly the most employed controllers in industry. Also, since the so called exact model matching is impossible in the actual realities, the partial model matching from the lowest order term to as higher the term as possible is adopted by Kitamori. This controller has a structure which cousists of information about the controlled object and...
A control feedback system with saturation nonlinearities is said to have robustness preserving characteristics if the constrained system is as robust as its linear counterpart. Such characteristics can be desirable. It has been proved for some special cases that the anti-windup version of the Internal Model Control architecture can offer such characteristics for first-order plants with delays against...
This paper introduces the algorithm of the analog controller design by example of Multi-Inertial-Feature System according to the requirement of the Fastest-Response control. This algorithm identifies the parameters of the multi-order system by LSM with the output and input data firstly; then it calculates the Fastest-Response data according to the multi-order system's feature; finally, the data of...
Constant pressure water supply for the pumping station complex large time delay system, traditional PID control is difficult to ensure that any working condition always have a good control performance and fast response. These papers presents speed control system of constant pressure pump unit using fuzzy self-tuning PID control strategy, in order to achieve real-time tuning of PID parameters, and...
For the multi-motor synchronous control system has time delay and stochastic disturbance and uncertainty model factors, this paper proposed a fuzzy Smith controller which combined Smith pre-estimate control and fuzzy PID control, introducing the structure, the design method of the speed controller and modeling of the control system. Matlab toolboxes are used to simulate the multi-motor synchronous...
Addressing to the difficulties in PID parameter tuning, low accuracy in temperature controlling and the dissatisfaction in high exactitude extrusion processing of the present PID controllers, a new kind of PID controller based on RBF neural network is proposed. It can not only obtain a higher accuracy in temperature controlling, but also infinitely approach the nonlinear system with quicker and more...
