Einflussreiche Unterlage: Metallsubstrate nehmen Einfluss auf das Adsorptionsverhalten von ZnO‐Schichten, einem für die industrielle Herstellung von Methanol durch CO‐Oxidation wichtigen Katalysatormaterial. Wechselwirkungen mit dem Substrat führen zur Bildung einer neuen, planaren ZnO‐Schichtform, deren weniger hoch oxidierte Zn‐Atome CO stärker binden als die Zn‐Atome in der normalen Wurtzit‐Modifikation.
