After analyzing gradient algorithms, such as sobel operator, robert operator, prewitt operator and canny operator, an improved method of edge detection of vehicle image is proposed in the study, based on image fusion at pixel level. The experimental results show that this method can obtain integrated and consecutive vehicle edgepsilas image and make for the recognition of vehicle type.
